Town of Clay Court is the busiest and the second largest court in the Onondaga County Clay Town, New York. It serves the citizens of Clay Town and North Syracuse and has jurisdiction over criminal and civil matters, misdemeanors, Traffic and Vehicle matters, felony matters, Town and State code violations, and small claims matters. Which types of cases are handled by the small claims division?

Town of Clay Court Small Claims Division handles all the cases in which claims are up to $3000. It also handles rent claims cases without any limit. The case hearing is scheduled every 3rd Tuesday at 2:00 pm and every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 3:00 pm. There is no right to assign an attorney in these types of divisions. The person on which the claim occurred must be a town citizen. The property on which the claim arose must also be in that town. 

Which types of cases are handled by the criminal division?

Town of Clay Court criminal division handles cases of crimes like murder, kidnapping, theft, etc. The case hearing is scheduled every Tuesday at 4:00 pm and every Wednesday at 5:00 pm. Hiring an attorney is compulsory in criminal cases, and for any person that cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint an attorney at arraignments for the defendant.

Which types of cases are handled by the traffic division?

Town of Clay Court traffic division handles cases of speeding, traffic, vehicle accidents, broken vehicles, and any matter related to vehicle and traffic. The traffic cases are also solved by submitting a plea form of guilty or not guilty. After submitting the form, the court will respond whether to appear in court or pay a fine only. How to get a marriage license?

Town of Clay Court marriage is obtained from the clerk’s office. The cost is $40 for each copy; the price is $10. The couple’s age must be 18+. The couple must be presented in court when they come for the license. To obtain the permit, the couple had to submit a marriage form with a birth certificate, photo ID like a driver’s license, passport, or anything that could prove their identity. If anyone is divorced, a divorce paper must be submitted before getting support. If anyone wants the copies, fill out the certificated copy of the marriage license request and submit it to the court. After receiving the license, a marriage ceremony is held in court.
