Introduction:

The superior court of Napa is a city courthouse serving the residents of Napa County, California. It is located within the court of appeal in the first district, and the appeal from the northern state district goes to the ninth circuit United State Court of appeal. The courthouse was established in 1850; new buildings were chosen in 1856. The new building was constructed in 1998 but was destroyed due to an earthquake in 2014; then, all the operations will be conducted currently in the juvenile courthouse with advanced facilities. The court’s mission is to serve the resident with courtesy and efficiency and provide justice according to the legal system and law. It has jurisdiction over criminal, small claims, probation, juvenile, appeal, civil, family, traffic, and vehicle matters. They provide services like online payment, forms, fines, case information, jury services, mediation orientation program and many more, so it is optional to go to court for these services. This court also provides self-help for a different division. Proper dressing is required during the court session, and wearing a mask is mandatory. Three superior courts located in this county are:

How can a case search be done?

Napa County Superior Court Case Search can be done online using the court portal https://portal.napa.courts.ca.gov/Secure/.The court maintains all the records online, in files, or in a database. The case search can be found by:

• Search by Case Number, citation, or traffic number
• Search by First, middle, and last name

After entering the data, the case information will come. The portal will only show those records information that is publicly available. Some records are unavailable; if the information does not come, the case records will be removed or confidential and cannot be displayed online. You have to go to the court or give a record request for these documents, and then the court will decide whether to provide that information. The fee for each document per page is $0.50, which is mandatory.

How to search for dockets?

Napa County Superior Court dockets can be searched using the court calendar https://www.napa.courts.ca.gov/online-services/daily-court-calendar. The dockets are updated throughout the day every thirty minutes. The search can be found by entering the last name or party name, case number, date and the department. After entering the information, the result will be displayed with detailed information.

How to make a payment?

Napa County Superior Court payment can be made in the following ways:

· In-Person:

A person can pay for tickets and fines by visiting the court during regular court hours and paying in cash, checks, or with a card at the court payment office. Take your ticket and citation number with you when you come for payment. 2% surcharges will be applied if you make payment with a credit card. 

· Online: 

Online payments can be made using the Superior Court Online Portal https://portal.napa.courts.ca.gov/Secure/. Enter any search type, like a case or traffic ticket number, name, etc. and the citation search. Your case information with the amount of the fine will be displayed. Select the payment option and pay the amount online. 

· Mail: 

A Person can send a certified check or money order to the court’s criminal courthouse mailing address; 1111 Third Street, First Floor, Napa, CA 94559. Cash or personal checks are not acceptable in the mail; only certified checks or money orders are accepted. Remember to write your citation, name, case number, and account number when you send the payment, and mail the amount in a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want a receipt.

Payments or local work programs will be available if you need to reduce your fine with a payment plan due to financial hardship. Contact the criminal courthouse if you want to know about the eligibility of the payment plan or any other information.

Napa County Superior Court remote appearances for some eligible cases and mediation sessions are possible using video conferencing in the zoom application. Fill out and send the form related to your case. The court will respond with a schedule and a meeting link ID if your case is eligible for the remote hearing. Make sure your internet connection is strong. Mute your microphone and speak only when the judge calls your name. Test your microphone and video before joining the session. It is recommended to avoid running unnecessary applications when you are in a meeting. Wear a proper dress and sit where your face is visible. Napa family court provides a wide range of programs that focus on family. The programs help and assist parents in decision-making for the children’s best interest in a family transaction. This court provides mediation, orientation, domestic violence and civil harassment services to the county people. The filing for family law cases related to divorce, Child Support, Paternity, Custody/Visitation, Guardianship, Domestic Violence and Harassment are filled via e-filing or by visiting the clerk of the superior court. Napa County traffic court handles all traffic and vehicle violations involving juvenile or adult cases. The violation includes accidents, speeding, using a mobile phone during driving, violating traffic signals and traffic rules and many more. The traffic school option is available if your case is eligible for it.
