North Greenbush Town Court

North Greenbush Town Court is a trial court in the County of Rensselaer. It is located within the 3rd Judicial District Department. It has jurisdiction over criminal, small claims and eviction matters, and vehicle and traffic cases. It also handles speeding ticket matters given to people on I-90. The District Attorney of Rensselaer prosecutes most Criminal and Traffic Ticket matters. Wearing a mask is mandatory in this court. The court session will be held every Tuesday at 5:30 pm.

How to make payments?

North Greenbush Town Court payment for tickets and fines can be made in the following ways:

In-Person

A person can pay for tickets and fines by visiting the court during regular court hours and paying in cash, checks, or with a card at the counter. 2.99% convenience and other charges will be applied if you make payment with a credit card. 

Mail

A Person can send a certified check or money order to the court’s mailing address. The address is 2 Douglas St, Wynantskill, NY 12198, United States. Cash or personal checks are not acceptable in the mail; only certified checks or money orders are accepted. Remember to write your citation when you send the payment, and mail the amount in a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want a receipt.

Online and phone

This court is not currently accepting payment via phone or online method.

North Greenbush Town Court handles all the offense and violation cases related to speeding, traffic and vehicle matters. The violation and offense include:

• Driving with a suspended, expired or no license
• Drives recklessly or when taking drugs
• Drive with a high-speed limit that is not allowed
• Operate vehicles with improper tags or improper plates
• Fail to yield
• Do not stop at the red signal or stop sign
• Drive without a seat belt
• Using a mobile phone while driving
• Do not obey traffic control devices and rules

How many types of pleas are available by this court?

North Greenbush Town Court traffic ticket cases can be handled by entering a plea by mail and do not come to the court if you receive a ticket. Write a plea and send it before the citation date written on your ticket. Download the plea form, write Ticket or Case Number, and then enter your plea. Two types of plea can be written and mailed to the court that are:

Plea of Guilty

Write a guilty plea if you admit you violated the law or committed a crime. Write an explanation of your crime or anything you want to say related to your offense. The court will review your application and respond to whether you had to come to the court or only pay the fine.

Plea of not Guilty

If you do not accept your offense and deny all the violations against you, then enter this plea. You had to write all the proof in your defense and explain the facts that can prove you are innocent. The court will review your application and send you a schedule for your court appearance, and you have to appear on time. You had to appear with all the proof you wrote while sending the plea. North Greenbush Town Court small claim case can be filled when you fill out the form of the small claim case. How can the eviction process work?

North Greenbush Town Court eviction process works when you submit the original petition notice. $20 is the filing fee for the petition for securing a court date. The petition notice will be served ten days before the court date. You had to fill out the Original Affidavits of Service of the Notice of Petition within three days before the court date.

How can a person obtain a public defender?

North Greenbush Town Court public defender can only be obtained if you are charged with a violation or felony case and can financially qualify according to the rules. You can get the form for a public defender when you appear in court. The court will appoint a counsel if you are eligible for it, and the attorney from the public defender office of Rensselaer County Public will be available on your court date.
